During this age, parents play a crucial role in helping their child to develop her confidence in a new environment.
Parents are like an anchor to a safe harbour, and from there the child progressively enlarges her explorations, while her curiosity gets stimulated. It is necessary during these sessions for one of the parents to be present and take actively part in the activities with her child.
This will not only increase the safety and comfort of the child, it will also strengthen the bond between parent and child and open a new world of games and activities that could be continued at home by the parents.
The first few hours and sometimes several sessions of this program can be challenging for younger ones without previous experience of spending time outdoors.
It may take time and several activities and games for the children to build up their confidence and get familiar with the new environments, the Nature Guide staff and other participants.
Children tickets only include one adult. If a second adult wishes to join as a parent or caregiver, you are welcome to book an additional adult ticket.
In the locations where we run activities, there sometimes are cafés and rest areas where parents might like to stay reading or working while the half-day program unfolds, then pick their child up at the end.
For our younger participants, however, it is necessary that one adult joins throughout the session.
Explore City Parks' less walked paths to spot its secret colorful wildlife. Learn to find your way among forest and rocky grounds, developing balance and coordination.
Reveal the artist inside you, connect with your creative mind, assess and express your emotions while using natural elements and inspiration from the local environment.
Use the growing confidence with the environment and the knowledge about wildlife to follow the clues through this playful quest for a hidden treasure.
The whole program is designed with activities that are age-appropriate for 1.5 to 3-year-old children. After a few sessions in this program both parents and children will feel at ease using Nature as a tool for sensory stimulation, to develop psychomotricity, basic language learning, and introduction to the outdoor environment.
We walk in the fields, explore the forest, the water-edge,
and get to know various lifeforms.
Most of the activities develop gross motor skills. The main goal of this program is for the child to have a positive experience exploring the wilderness. We want to instill the value of discovering nature through enjoyable activities and want the children to share this experience with their parents.
The 3 C's
The sparkle of our learning journey
When one approaches the world with an eager mind to understand it, learning becomes fun. As an ever-growing tree, knowledge finds always room to enlarge its roots and bear new fruits.
A kind heart is our best companion
Happiness is a state of mind that starts from the inside. We celebrate life with gratitude towards the planet and contribute to making this world a better place for everyone. Stewardship for the planet starts early-age.
Sharing our self with the world
Our ability to connect ideas is linked to how confident we feel to fail and try again. Creating a positive environment where participants feel free to experiment and try new things is crucial to nurture someone's confidence.
This program aims to provide children living in the city with the opportunity to develop their connection with Nature. The objective is not to transform the child into an encyclopedia, but to ensure that he/she has a positive experience while being outdoors, thereby developing awareness about the Natural processes around her/his and enhancing the curiosity to learn more about the world at large.
