Autumn Program

Exploring Otter is a program with 10 sessions for 3-6 year-old children, designed to learn hands-on natural science and outdoor skills.

Fall... in love with Nature!

Each activity can be enjoyed on its own and has its specific value,
but by attending the program on a regular basis children start to recognize some of the wildlife around them,
understand the life-cycle of plants and some basic outdoor skills such as orientation, simple agriculture, wildfire cooking, etc.

We use a combination of Montessori, Forest School, and experiential learning methodologies to provide comprehensive, personalized, and engaging educational activities that nurture love, respect, and stewardship for the environment.

Above all,
we believe that learning should be FUN!

Every Saturday morning we go on a different adventure where we explore Shanghai’s nature and discover the local wildlife.

5 SESSIONS: book 5 events, get a 5% discount
FULL PROGRAM: book all 10 events and get a 10% discount
FULL YEAR: book all events + the upcoming Spring program, get a 15% discount

During these sessions we strongly recommend that one of the parents is present for children aged 3 and 4, especially when it is a new activity for the child.

At this age, children may still enjoy the reassurance of their parent taking actively part in the activity with them. It is also a good opportunity to strengthen the bond between parent and child, providing a new world of games and activities beyond the activity experience that can be continued in other places with the parents.

Parents can allow for less support as their child becomes more comfortable with the activity, especially if the child joins multiple activities and becomes more familiar with the process

The first hours, sometimes sessions, of this program are often challenging for the younger ones if they did not have previous experience with spending time outdoors.

It may take time and a few activities and games for the children to build up their confidence and get familiar with the new environments, the Nature Guide staff and other participants.

Children aged 5 or 6 may participate without parental support, however, parents are welcome throughout all activities designed for this age group of 3-6 years old.

Children tickets only include one adult. If a second adult wishes to join as a parent or caregiver, you are welcome to book an additional adult ticket.

In the locations where we run activities, there sometimes are cafés and rest areas where parents might like to stay reading or working while the half-day program unfolds, then pick their child up at the end.

For our younger participants (aged 3 and 4), however, it is still recommended that one adult joins throughout the session.
